I am a software developer and AI engineer. 2-3X productivity improvement is conservative!

I’m really not trying to exaggerate, but I could easily see 10-100X improvement in productivity for senior engineers that were previously generalists that could work up and down technology stacks. I have some of my friends that were already unreasonably productive people who could build entire full-stack software applications and startup businesses in several months (two extremely hard things to do). Now they can do the same thing in several days and even auto-generate pitch decks to go out and secure funding for their software products.

It’s insane!

I especially appreciated pointing out how devoid of critical thinking the public-at-large can be with regard to technological progress and innovation. We're just not wired for rapid progress.

I am positively enthusiastic that S- curves still work and are relevant.

This was good voice in world of people weirdly dumping on advances.

Good work boys!

It's interesting how much the Gartner Hype Cycle replicates the same pattern as brain cell depolarization... https://www.biologyonline.com/dictionary/depolarization

Nature is perfect, just the way it is-- with invasive species, like us. The continents of North America and later South America really benefitted when our ancestors came stomping across the Aleutian land bridge.

I love Andreesen and AI, but I thought his argument that AI can’t “want” anything was weak. You don’t need the AI to want anything to destroy humanity. You just need one evil person to program the AI to destroy humanity and then the AI will “want” that.
