Speech brain-machine interfaces is the next step to turning dreams into movies. Imagine waking up and re-watching your dream. That, or using it in police interrogations to tell if someone is speaking a lie and thinking the truth.
I came for the climate optimism, but I am thrilled to read about CalTech's BMI technology. For years I have been telling people "I was just thinking of you, honestly. Hadn't yet picked up the phone." Now finally ...
I'm sorry, but in what universe is cultivated meat going to be less climate polluting that raising cows?
Culturing cells is incredibly resource intensive - I see zero evidence that it is any better, environmentally, than farming salmon and is likely far worse.
Then there is the scale issue. What are the inputs needed to provide the nutrients to grow even 10% of the 328 million metric tons of meat consumed in the world every year? If it is say, agar, the entire world annual production is 10,000 tons. If it is just sugar, the world's entire annual production is 181.8 million metric tons.
This cultivated meat nonsense is right up there with delusionary algae grown oil replacement fantasies.
I am so sad to hear about FTX’s implosion. I really admired SBF. I can only imagine how hard it must be on you, since you literally had their name on your blog.
I pray you find grace in the grieving process, and I look forward to “failing forward” with you through all of this...

you raised a good point. is there any source which I can use to educate myself (as a meat lover) on this debate?
I would suggest starting by reading this: https://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy16osti/64772.pdf
Note this references inputs multiple that of outputs to produce just algae. It is certain that meat production would be far more resource intensive.
thank you!
