Love this. Having sold B2B my whole career, I'm super keen on popping the hood on Bravado to learn new skills and interact with actual sales people. Nice post!

Lovely piece. You're right, the profession of sales has been caricatured to absurdity, yet nothing happens 'til something's sold. Small point. You don't "take a different tact." You take a different "tack." "Tack" is a sailing term, roughly means "direction" (sorry!)

Great piece. Curious why you think other community/network-first platforms didn't capitalize as well on top of their distribution and brand, e.g. StackOverflow (their jobs product doesn't seem great; now they are getting disrupted by GPT-3/ChatGPT/Copilot), Quora (product is just getting worse and worse), and Dribbble.

One theory might be that these guys were product founders / shape rotators (StackOverflow ~ engineers, Quora ~ nerds, Dribbble ~ designers) that accidentally became distribution founders / wordcels, and didn't want to or weren't great at capitalizing on that.

Great story, but why does Sahil wear a mask in his LinkedIn profile pic? I would never buy from someone who does that because it indicates virtue signaling and low critical thinking ability. Oh he worked for Obama, now it all makes sense ;)
