Very informative and enjoyable write up. Thanks. Been drinking coffee around the world for decades. Always found Starbucks to be low quality thus having respect for their ability to run such a successful global business based on a poor product. Likewise the machines u mention such as Keurig (awful) and Nespresso (slightly better but still yuk). Several years ago I solved the problem of having great coffee at home. The delonghi machine. Combined with finding the right beans. Now living in uae I arrange shipment of certain beans from Europe and it works a gem. Admittedly it took lots of experimentation with different bean brands and strength to get it right. Quality comparable to those wonderful cafes u can find in Italy and several other European countries. Would be interested to know the TDS rating of this machine and if you considered this in analysis when assessing the business. Having said that I do agree the average palate is rather weak and even weaker state side when it comes to good coffee. As the palates improve through such innovation I do think you are on to something. The key as we have seen from Nespresso success is marketing. Just my view…
How do they manage to keep the roasted coffee beans from releasing their flavor (gas) during the Roaster to Cometeer production plant transportation part of the supply chain? From what I see they source roasted coffee beans from speacialty roasters from all around the US.
Great writeup and I'll be trying them out for sure. Is there not a gap though in the supply chain between the roasters and when Cometeer grinds the beans, resulting in the loss of flavor and complexity that occurs immediately after roasting?
How do I try this in the UK?
dear Packy, may I know how to contact with about cooperations?
