It's dated, but if you haven't read it, The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison, is a great read - https://www.amazon.com/Difference-Between-God-Larry-Ellison/dp/0060008768

I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned that Ellison’s America’s Cup team got caught cheating during the event and got given a huge penalty, and they still came back and won!

Oh come on. Everyone knows Ellison from his appearance in Iron Man as he walks past Tony Stark. :-) Ellison was heard of plenty back in the 1990s but it is interesting that he has both sustained his success and is now back in the center publicly. One big disappointment has been Ellison's early and major investment in anti-aging research which never seemed to go anywhere.

As a counterexample this article was literally perfect for me

"Over the past month, a name I bucket as part of tech's legacy keeps coming up in discussions about its future.

Larry Ellison is the richest tech person we know the least about."

I had heard stuff about Larry Ellison but also never really knew anything about him, and was always curious.

I related a lot to the quote above

"The move to vertically integrated platforms locked in Oracle’s distributional advantage for another decade.7 Between 1990 and 2001, Oracle’s revenue went from $196M to $10 billion."

I wish this section of the article compared Oracles rise to other tech companies or a baseline of some sort. As I know many other tech companies did well for themselves at the time
