If we are willing to watch fake reality shows like Property Brothers in HGTV, I don’t understand why ECPN tracking a new commercial project can’t go mainstream. Lets Go! 😀👍
Streams are great, but let’s think bigger. We need an ESPN for construction live streams (ECPN). We need talking heads yelling at each other about whether or not projects will get done on time and on budget, or whether John is a better welder than Jane. I want to roll into a bar on Friday night and hear the guy next to me say, “You see McConkle out there on that fab build in Arizona? Kid can fucking weld.”
Probably my favorite paragraph in Not Boring history. Loved this post, Packy. I'm all in on ECPN!
@Packy: fucking A you’re right about using streaming to watch BUILDING like watching SPORTS ... but you’re missing the best way to juice that even further -- BETTING on BUILDING! imagine DraftKings or FanDuel for your local welder: “hey i bet Luke can get the job done by Friday -- i’ll bet $100 on it!”
haha i actually thought about including a betting piece, would take it up a notch! if we get millions of people to watch construction livestreams, no way betting doesn't happen...
If the US can continue to set examples like this, showing the rest of the world what we're capable of, we'll be flooded with foreign investments. The world wants to invest with us, but they're scared. They think we've lost our industrial edge, and that we're sliding into corruption. The central struggle for the US, and for democracy, on the world stage is to show that it works. This was great to see.
I honestly couldn’t tell whether this was intended as a joke or a genuine proposal. Perhaps you couldn’t either. However, it was certainly Not Boring!(tm)
100% agree that the benefits of building infrastructure outweigh the future problem of going too far away from policy and committee reviews - but hey, better that than wasting billions on infrastructure that doesn't even get built! Great read!

So happy reading this! Let's have some pride in building things. Want to see deserted downtown areas come back with new purposes and new buildings that people are excited about.
You should run for office. I'm officially jacked up now and want to see all your ideas deployed. Who thought building could be as much fun as watching the Eagles make their superbowl run.

As a die hard Philly fan and Not Boring fan, this hit the sweetest spot. Plus, it's the kind of crazy shit that might just work.
This *could just* work! Throw in some dibs for the various draft picks for cities that beat others in builds and let’s go …
This is the best thing I've read this year!

“For a fee, you could listen to mic’d up workers shooting the shit”. Not if you want to keep ecpn children friendly lol
Everything else is in this article is amazing
haha for a fee! we'd age-gate that one :)
This might be crazy enough to work.

I like the idea of livestreaming building projects. Getting people aware is the first step to getting them to support it.
